5 General conditions for the tests

6 Classification4 g4 y, |$ \5 p9 D: K* @" L$ Y$ Z
6.1 Add the following to the requirement as a new second paragraph:
" w9 f8 u% f; X6 r8 @If an appliance consists of a part of class III construction and a detachable power supply
* W7 N( L- D. {& i" h7 U0 {part, the complete appliance is classified as a class I appliance or class II appliance in
8 u/ |! Q: t* {5 Gaccordance with the classification applicable to its detachable power supply part.
0 {8 o& ]  \0 \6 F; A% b3 ^7 Marking and instructions% h1 C8 ~* @; Z4 x: A+ E) y! r( b
7.1 Replace the last dashed item in the first paragraph by the following:1 Q4 N! X! ?; }0 l. b2 M9 s  k1 W
– symbol IEC 60417-5180 (2003-02), for class III appliances. This marking is not9 I+ N7 @& r& }: r
necessary for appliances operated only by batteries (primary batteries or secondary
7 o2 H( e" {9 A1 z. Q. ^: ebatteries recharged outside of the appliance) or appliances powered by rechargeable3 X5 T( K3 w' U& H- v

Add the following new subclause:

appear together before any other instructions supplied with the appliance. Alternatively, these
! U, K' w8 c/ W& [. ~) m& S0 y6 uinstructions may be supplied with the appliance separately from any functional use booklet.
& L2 r3 V  P4 {2 L# hThey may follow the description of the appliance that identifies parts, or follow the
( M5 }0 A& y7 y( Wdrawings/sketches common to the languages of the instructions.; M' N2 [) M/ c  W! j
In addition, instructions shall also be available in an alternative format such as on a website
# W6 A6 ^$ m- _5 G8 v6 Q( dor on request from the user in a format such as a DVD.

7.14 Add the following as new second paragraph to the requirement:

uppercase having a height not less than

: E$ Z& e4 m9 V– 2,0 mm for portable appliances with a printable surface of less than 10 cm2; and+ z# N8 i; X) a+ z

NOTE A height of 3,5 mm is similar to Arial 14 pt, 3,0 mm is similar to 12 pt Arial and 2,0 mm is similar to 8 pt5 P3 s4 J8 [. x4 S

Uppercase letter of the text explaining the signal word shall be no smaller than 1,6 mm, with

Countries that do not use the Latin alphabet need to specify the minimum size of the script to

" o& k! S7 w2 ^9 `Compliance is checked by inspection, by measurement and by rubbing the marking by hand
* d: Q+ Z  L  f# g& Gfor 15 s with a piece of cloth soaked with water and again for 15 s with a piece of cloth# a- q$ W* m3 N6 w+ O- F
soaked with petroleum spirit. The petroleum spirit to be used for the test is aliphatic solvent$ n+ f3 F$ ?3 J2 T, }3 Y

8 Protection against access to live parts7 g, M  Q) E# F3 Z4 {; j, I
8.1.3 Replace the note by the following.+ ~$ ]( ]+ Y  n2 S& P8 B
If a single switching action is obtained by a switching device, the switching device shall! q" E; w& R( h! y3 S1 N
provide full disconnection and the clearances for full disconnection specified in 20.1.5.3 of

step for rated impulse withstand voltage.

circuit, a single switching action may be obtained by the withdrawal of the plug from a socketoutlet.
* m/ o$ Y* J( y+ M* KCompliance is checked by inspection and by manual test.3 ^) S% n( L% o
13 Leakage current and electric strength at operating temperature
9 H) U4 E% A0 u9 ?9 c. J. j2 G13.2 Replace the first paragraph by the following:, L. T0 E; m% M  [! |* Z
The leakage current is measured by means of the circuit described in Figure 4 of
" F& S2 m$ C1 pIEC 60990:1999. For class 0I appliances and class I appliances, except parts of class II
! h4 L( t8 N2 }% G/ a3 oconstruction, C may be replaced by a low impedance ammeter responding to the rated" m1 _9 @& W! H
frequency of the appliance.
9 `( p# J( e, m* q: {% U19 Abnormal operation) Z4 I- U- A6 [8 x  q' u
19.1 Add the following to the penultimate paragraph of the test specification:* K2 M# D. O$ P
If the control performs more than one function, only that aspect of the control under" X3 u- p" j% @9 x" V
consideration is rendered inoperative. Other functions of the control may continue to operate
) B8 j3 ~' T2 x) M' I8 F! O) |! Cnormally.5 k  q' l9 E4 A# u' ]
19.7 In the third paragraph of the test specification, replace “class P2” by “class S2 or S3”.4 N3 j( c& W& o6 T2 b4 e
19.11.3 Replace the text of the test specification but not the note, by the following.0 r  h; ]1 M% R* o% r
If the appliance incorporates a protective electronic circuit that operates to ensure
9 ^" {# D. |, u9 L1 }+ u1 y( ecompliance with Clause 19, the appliance is tested as follows:
" W* b7 _8 g! @5 w2 `4 iA fault as indicated in a) to g) of 19.11.2 shall be incorporated in the protective electronic% A) p* u9 \* N' B
circuit either before the appliance is started or at any point in time after the appliance is6 l0 B( D) W. ]0 B7 f" ?1 Q& `
started so that the most unfavourable conditions of the test are applied.1 ]7 F: }6 l9 T- }! i$ p7 |' ^
If the appliance is able to operate after the fault in the protective electronic circuit is
4 o& a. C7 [( Z( ~incorporated, then the appliance is further tested as follows.
( V$ U, C" m2 B. NFor appliances for continuous operation the appliance is operated until steady conditions are/ [4 B  C+ a: X1 N) u, @7 C
reached. Then the relevant test of Clause 19 is repeated.& x4 O# m4 S. Y4 L( P/ o3 H
Other appliances are operated for one cycle of operation. Then the relevant test of Clause 19
" L& L; r, z3 N% {- d7 e, n, m0 Wis repeated.
! Q5 c% w, r! q! h6 s1 v1 i19.11.4.2 Replace the test specification but not the note, by the following:
, E" u6 ^' H9 a7 x5 \The appliance is subjected to radiated fields in accordance with IEC 61000-4-3./ s  S1 F) o6 g, [# O4 j# C8 x
The frequency ranges tested shall be:
$ Q9 f( }8 {5 Z! l; ^– 80 MHz to 1 000 MHz, test level 3;9 b' f  c! n! `) m& ]( V1 Z5 Y
– 1,4 GHz to 2,0 GHz, test level 3;
+ U1 |" j- o" P6 C7 V7 K7 \9 q& k– 2,0 GHz to 2,7 GHz, test level 2.
